Boise—Tour of the Reserves, Camel’s Back

May 16, 2019 @ 5:30 pm - 6:30 pm

This is the final tour of the season! Join us at Camel’s Back Reserve. The reserve land, along with the Camel’s Back Park, was acquired by the city of Boise in 1932 from Bernard Lemp, a relative of a former neighbor. Camel’s Back Reserve is home to three trailheads which act as a starting point for some of the 150 miles of Ridge to Rivers trails in the foothills. Come hear the history of the reserve and take a short hike with us in one of the most popular areas of open space in the city!

The city of Boise, Foothills Learning Center and ICL offer  this  exciting year-round adventure series, Tour of the Reserves, to help those of us lucky enough to live in or near Boise to get to know our backyard. Monthly events include short hikes, walking presentations and historical stories.

The city of Boise’s foothills open space includes 11 reserves. In total, the city manages roughly 4,000 acres and 40 miles of trails within its reserves, all differing in elevation and accessibility. The reserve ecosystems include riparian habitat, grassland and alpine forests, and are home to wild creatures large and small.

Registration required!  Contact Lana to reserve your spot and find out our meeting place.
